Student support and awards for young members

Financial assistance / travel support

Limited funds to support attendance of the conference will be available. DGGV and PalGes predoctoral student members or students who will become members during the conference are eligible for application in case of poster or oral presentation grant (max. 50 €).

(Please note: Travel support cannot be given for students from Utrecht).

To apply for travel allowances by DGGV please send an e-mail directly to the DGGV to info[at]dggv.de.

PalGes https://www.palges.de/

Predoctoral students (must be member of the Paläontologische Gesellschaft) without financial support (such as DFG project position or stipend) can apply for a travel grant (max. 50 €) if they present a talk or poster at GeoUtrecht 2020. Please send your application (name, Bachelor-/Master-/or Doctoral- student, university and home address, title of poster or talk, statement that no financial support is available) to the Geschäftsstelle of Paläontologische Gesellschaft: geschaeftsstelle[at]palges.de, no later than July 5, 2020. Students from Utrecht cannot apply for the travel grant.

Awards - DGGV and PalGes are awarding the following student awards

DGGV and PalGes outstanding student poster award

All first-author students presenting a poster are eligible to compete for this award. Successful students will be awarded financial support (1st place: € 600, 2nd: € 400, 3rd: € 200). A jury will select the winner on site.

Conditions are:

(1) You are member of PalGes or DGGV and you have chosen the award application during the abstract submission; please check the box at the end of the list of sessions.

(2) Your poster was confirmed by the program committee.

(3) You are on site with your poster.

PalGes “Young Scientist Award (YSA)”

All first-author students presenting a talk are eligible to compete for this award. Successful students will be awarded financial support (1st place: € 500, 2nd: € 300, 3rd: € 200).

Conditions are:

(1) membership of Paläontologische Gesellschaft

(2) applicants must not yet have finished their doctoral degree.

(3) you have chosen the award application during the abstract submission; please check the box at the end of the list of sessions. Your talk was confirmed by the committee and you have given your talk at GeoUtrecht 2020 conference. A jury will select the winner.
